The recently announced pause on the Route 17 project is a step towards victory for the ReThink Route 17 Alliance! The NYS Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced on October 2nd that the Route 17 project will be paused to “re-assess the project alternatives in consideration of feedback received.”
This reassessment is an important step — we want to thank Governor Hochul and the NYSDOT for listening to community feedback and pausing this environmental review process to better capture project alternatives that improve the quality of life and transportation access, affordability, and safety for residents along the Route 17 corridor. During this pause, we urge Governor Hochul and the NYSDOT to remove highway expansion completely from the Route 17 project alternatives.
